Trade union action at North Sea Port: impact and updates
The trade union action in the Flemish part of North Sea Port that started on Tuesday 10 March 2026 was fully lifted on Friday 13 March. On this page you can find a timeline of this strike.
With the introduction of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) on Monday, December 1 (9 a.m.), the Permanent Commission for Supervision of the Scheldt Waterway has decided to reorganize traffic guidance on the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. As a result, North Sea Port will no longer be able to offer its services on VHF channel 11.
From then on, North Sea Port will offer all its services on the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal and in the adjacent ports and docks on VHF channel 5, and no longer on VHF channel 11.
