Stronger together
In our port, many worlds meet. Industry, logistics and energy converge here. With innovative infrastructure, we strengthen connections, make transport smarter and help businesses grow within a sustainable economic balance.
In the years ahead, we’re joining forces on every front. National and European projects will bring clean energy ashore, boost electrification, and strengthen both rail and water connections for greater accessibility. That’s how we stay moored to the world. And to each other.
Smarter, ready for tomorrow
A future-proof port requires both vision and action. We invest in smart infrastructure and sustainable growth, creating space for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable connections.

Together with our customers and partners, we’re improving our infrastructure. Through digital development, innovation, and climate-adaptive design, we’re making our port smarter, safer, and more sustainable — for today and for generations to come.
-
With our partners, we’re fast-tracking projects like the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal, Rail Ghent–Terneuzen, R4WO, and new cycling paths, hydrogen, and CCUS infrastructure. Boosting accessibility, multimodality, and the pace of Europe’s energy transition.
Our projects
How will we do it? By investing in rail, waterways and roads that drive our port forward. Discover the projects we’re already implementing together with our partners.
Rail Ghent Terneuzen
We’re improving the railway between Ghent and Terneuzen. Increased capacity, fewer bottlenecks, and safer transport will ensure a stronger, more reliable rail connection.
Optimising the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal
By 2030, the canal will be deepened from the North Sea Locks to the Massagoedhaven. This allows larger vessels to berth and unload behind the locks. Excellent.
R4 West and East
The redesign of the R4 will improve safety, traffic flow and liveability. For a port that develops hand in hand with its surroundings, this is key.
