Trade union action at North Sea Port: impact and updates
The trade union action in the Flemish part of North Sea Port that started on Tuesday 10 March 2026 was fully lifted on Friday 13 March. On this page you can find a timeline of this strike.
General terms and conditions and rates apply to the use of the port infrastructure at North Sea Port. In order to offer our customers the best possible service, we apply the same rates for the entire cross-border port area of North Sea Port (from Flushing via Terneuzen to Ghent).
With these adjustments, North Sea Port remains committed to a fair, transparent and sustainable policy for the benefit of all users of the port. Below is an overview of the most important changes.
• Indexation of rates
The rates for maritime shipping, inland shipping and other services will be indexed by +2.8%.
• Discount for inland waterway vessels
The Green Award discount for inland waterway vessels will be differentiated into three groups: gold, silver and bronze, for discounts of 15%, 10% and 5% respectively.
• Waste contribution
The waste contribution will be adjusted on the basis of monitoring within the cost-neutral principle.
• Drones and oil
A few minor rate adjustments have been included under “other rates”, such as the addition of a rate for the use of a drone and the installation of oil barriers.
• Clarifications
Definitions have been added for 2026 and passages have been clarified as a result of ongoing monitoring.
All rates and conditions can be found on our website.
