A safer harbour

As a port authority, we are working together with Portwatch and Veilige Zeehavens (Safe Seaports) to ensure a safe port.

Platforms for both Belgium and the Netherlands

These platforms have been developed on both the Belgian and Dutch sides to create greater clarity and uniform treatment. This uniform treatment also optimises the flow of information.

In the Belgian part of the port area, Portwatch reports are sent to the police's Arrondissementeel InformatieKruispunt (AIK), which then forwards them to the competent service. Portwatch is an initiative of the Belgian Minister for the North Sea, the FPS Mobility and Transport and the Federal Judicial Police.

In the Dutch part of the port, the Choose your own safety campaign is being run as an initiative of Mainport Zeehavens Zeeland – West-Brabant. The municipalities of Vlissingen, Borsele, Terneuzen and Moerdijk, the police, the Public Prosecution Service, Customs, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Tax and Customs Administration and the port companies North Sea Port and Port of Moerdijk are joining forces in this campaign. Various options for reporting incidents can be found on Veilige Zeehavens (Safe Seaports), also an initiative of the collaborating parties within Mainport Zeehavens Zeeland/West-Brabant.

Together, we are working to create a safer port. There is no place for crime in North Sea Port.
